Card Builder

Card Builder is a way for facility admins to customize the way their cards are printed and viewed online. By default, all cards for all facilities are displayed the same, with the same fields in the same order for the same categories.

We recognize that not every facility is the same, and so Card Builder is our solution!

With Card Builder, you can specify where to put notes. Every PREFcard has a notes section that can include prep, positioning, music preferences, and much more. By default, these notes are shown to the right of the items. You can change the position of these notes to above the items, below the items, or keep them to the right.

The important note is special and is always shown at the top - above the items and other notes.

Each category of the PREFcard can have a different set of columns from every other category. These columns can be modified, reordered, take more or less space, and formatted differently using Card Builder. The spacing of these columns is specified on a grid of 12, so if you want a column to take 1/4 of the space, give it a width of 3 (3/12 = 1/4).

While we don't recommend it, if you need more space, you can spill out onto two lines per item by taking more than the 12 columns given per row. Each column that takes a full row after the first 12 will be hidden if empty; we use this mechanism to hide notes for items that don't have one, but can be applied to any other column as well.

As you're making changes to the order, presence, and formatting of the columns for each category, take notice of the preview down below. The preview will help you see what the printed card might look like once you're done.

No preview will substitute for the real thing - an exported PDF. Once you're done with your changes, make sure to print your own sample card by going to 'Print PREFcards' and choosing one at random to try. If you need to make more changes, just go back to Card Builder and try again.

As a facility user, anytime you print a PREFcard in your facility, the Card Builder version of columns, orders, and formatting will be applied. By default, online viewing will take advantage of the screen space, mouse hovers, and more.

Changing the online layout for a PREFcard must be done on a one-by-one basis while looking at the PREFcard. The options for online layout are found in the 'Actions' -> 'Layout' menu of any PREFcard, and will reset the next time the card is viewed.
